HomepageFeatureWhen Emily told me she was wearing a pink wedding dress, I couldn’t quite picture it. But friends, this dress, THIS DRESS, couldn’t have been more perfect. I almost fainted when she put it on. It was remarkable. It set the tone for the day.

Emily and I met years ago when I taught a workout class at St. Thomas, so of course I was overjoyed when she emailed looking a photographer for her engagement and wedding. She always had this spark of joy about her and I always loved her style! I remember seeing her proposal photo on social media and I squealed. Like she was my little sister or childhood friend.I have just always wanted this girl to be happy oh so happy!  One of my favorite parts of planning with Emily was her saying that her theme was “I just want the everything to be romantic, but still fun and silly like us.” This my friends is the way to plan, keeping it all about you as a couple.

That is exactly how the day went. Fun, silly and beautifully romantic. Emily & Sean were up for anything photowise and trusted me in this crazy new little photo spot on the river! I just love the coloring and how the details of the day just popped there! There were so many incredibly intentional details. Definitely my favorite detail was the bouquet that was full of brooches that were gifted by her close family and friends. Throughout the day different family or friends would come up and locate their brooch that they gifted. It was such a fun connection piece!

One of my favorite parts of the day was during the ceremony Emily’s veil was glistening. Like diamonds. SO. MANY. diamonds. It had small gems throughout and it was incredibly gorgeous and such a memorable moment. Another favorite was the wedding party just loved this couple. The speeches and the genuine laughter and tears that were shared at dinner were full of so much authenticity and Emily’s dance with her dad definitely was enough to make me cry.

Emily & Sean your wedding day couldn’t have gone more perfect and I am so pumped I had the privilege of capturing your love story. So many congrats and much love! Enjoy!

This is My Mom Body | A Twin Cities Mom Blog Series

Mom bodies, it has a crazy connotation right? The stereotypes of mom jeans, fanny packs and hair in a pony tail comes to mind.

Instead of listening to the message of needing to be tiny and comparing ourselves to the magazine. Yet, I think there is a small revolution starting about honoring the mom bod.

But embracing it’s capabilities of the mom body. Thank them for sustaining children through birth, through the all night care, through the long days. When I was approached by Twin Cities Mom Blog to do a B&W series (shooting along another sweet local photographer). The project was photographing all different mom’s and celebrating their mom bodies in front of my camera I jumped a the chance.

Nothing makes my heart happy more than rewriting the negative scripts we have on what we believe our bodies should be and love on what they are in this season of life.

Meeting and photographing each of these women was remarkable. Hearing their stories at all different stages of motherhood, but yet the thing that caught my heart strings the MOST was watching the bricks of worry and fear of their body image fall the MOMENT they catch the light in their child’s eyes, as they were playing tag or having a tickle fest, no one was concerned about sucking in or posing perfectly. No one was worry about having duck lips or the perfect hair. It was two days of full joy celebrating that exact moment. The moment that I wish we all would or could give our self and our bodies grace to live in each day….

The moment we stop worrying or feeling shame over our bodies and CELEBRATE & USE THEM for what they were made for.

Loving children. Singing Itsy Bitsy. Carrying toddlers. Being listening ears. Being a playmate.

So PLEASE I beg you go on over and read the most powerful words from each of these mothers at the Twin Cities Mom Blog or their instagram account and enjoy their more of their images below. Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 |  (I will link and post more images as each of the posts come out) Thank you sweet women for being bold and inspiring all of us to be the beautiful women we were crafted to be.

Mike + Ashley | Wedding

HomepageFeatureFrom the moment I met Ashley I knew she was different than any other girl I had met. Even though we were just acquaintances at first. She listened so intently when I spoke, she smiled, she connected, she smiled again (dang that smile)!  Ashley knows how to love those around her oh so well. She gives her all. You know you are loved by this sweet bride just by her sweet presence. When I met Mike for the first time Ashley was radiating even more gorgeous than she had before. Her love was bigger. Her HEART was bigger.

It was no surprise to me on her wedding day to hear the same exact things from her friends, her sweet bridesmaids and her parents. Her and her mom’s connection was something I would love to have if I ever had a daughter or daughter in law. So much sweetness and genuine excitement for this couple to join together! It was contagious.

Mike got to have two first looks, one with his sweet daughter Olivia and then his gorgeous bride. I would have to say one of my favorite parts of the day was three seconds after Olivia had hugged and seen her daddy, she looked at me and promptly asked if she could go potty RIGHT NOW. Mike and I laughed as it was quite the perfect little response to their emotional embrace. But what kills me was Mike’s reaction to Ashley. Just pure and true. These two.

Ok, now if there wasn’t enough of people to talk about. Y’all THESE details. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Watercolor. Blue’s and Teal’s?! Ashley was speaking my language times a million!!!! She was inspired by the water in her engagement photos and just went with it, Water & simplicity were her two words she used in her planning often! I am obsessed with all things her bridesmaid dresses, floral and the amazing white wall we found downtown Green Bay, WI!

Their reception venue was full of windows and pulled in just that perfect feeling of fresh light before the sun set for the day and brought in the perfect dinner vibe! Some other favorite moment of the day was my bride having a couple of bites of pizza, her sweet pup Murphy greeting me at the door and almost running away while the girls were getting ready. It was such an amazing day and I am so happy I had the privilege of capturing your love story Ashley + Mike. So much congrats and love! Enjoy!

Tina + Adam | Wedding

I met this sweet bride years ago when she was just in high school. Her radiant smile has always brightened my day. When we booked her wedding date and I found out her husband turned her into a Packer fan (GO PACK GO!), I knew we would have the perfect wedding day in the amazing town of Milwaukee.

The day was blessed from the get go. From the weather, to the amazing details and each of the hilarious and genuine bridal party that made sure the day was nothing but fun for this couple. The details of the day were so stunning, my favorite was the little photo of Tina’s father who had passed away, so he could walk her down that aisle, even though physically her brothers did that. I thought the wedding day couldn’t get any better and then we hit the Milwaukee waterfront and this water lover about fell over at the incredibly beauty and colors of the lake. Then we headed to their Pritzlaff reception which was also ridiculously unique and stunning. Exposed brick, beams, cocktail hour outside?! What an incredible space.

I would have to say the veil image near the water was such a perfect capture of how beautiful and effortless the day went. Congrats sweet Tina and Adam! It was such an amazing day!
