St Paul Studio Maternity Portraits

It is so amazing to walk life with those entering new seasons of their own. Sweet Meghan and I have worked together many times the past couple of years and I am just so incredibly grateful for her as she is now expecting.

From my first mentoring session with Meghan, to our headshot sessions. I just knew the Lord had big plans for this woman. Since then she has launched a new brand, podcast and is just on fire! She is a WELL of information about health and her skills in cooking and recipes blessed me so much during my hardest season of late. I remember during this maternity session I expressed thanks through tears to her and her husband for loving us in the middle of our desert with clean eating desserts!! See the pun there 🙂

It was a no brainer that I wanted to capture this family growing into a family of three! I just love the color palette their outfits put together! I can’t wait to meet Baby Birt!!

A rustic chic winter farmhouse wedding in Minneapolis

One of my favorite parts of each wedding I photograph is witnessing the mix of emotions throughout the day. Nerves, excitement, love, joy. It’s what makes every wedding unique. Chris and Lauren’s day was full of so much joy, tears and straight up adoration for one another.

I teared up many times watching these two embrace, meet eyes down the aisle, or just sneak in a peek at one another during dinner. While Chris and Lauren had the most beautiful rustic chic winter wedding details honestly their love was enough to make it special. Literally they could have been in their pajamas and we would have gotten amazing images because of their joy for each other and amongst the families for this couple! It was so fun!

Y’all this wedding was one for the books. A private restored farmhouse on a private property set the stage for Lauren’s vision of LOTS of candles, very romantic and intimate. This couple loves their people well. It’s crazy inspiring and I hope you feel inspired also as you scroll through these images to love your people bigger. SO much excitement for the new Mr & Mrs!

Emily Ley Live in Session & Headshots

If you follow me over on Instagram, you witnessed the oversharing of my recent trip to Florida to visit my bestie, THE Emily Ley. I went there to take new headshots for her upcoming book about grace over perfection. Y’all, I’m just so proud of her! From Target errands to sparkles, Emily is the real deal. A sweet momma and a rocking business owner. She is so incredibly inspiring.

It’s crazy awesome to see what the Lord has done. And how our lives, businesses and families have grown through the past 7 years. I still can’t believe the path my life has taken since that first Making Things Happen in 2009 and it’s been a blessings to have Emily walk beside me through so much of it.

This woman y’all, I am sure you know it but she is just so talented and has such an eye for beauty, design and helping anyone get organized! I was able to meet her sweet Brady only about 3 weeks after he was born and photograph my first live-in session. So I couldn’t wait to get to squeeze these twins and photograph their everyday in their sweet new home!

What a treasure to be welcomed into the home of this family and spend some time documenting the day to day of the Ley family for the long weekend! Enjoy these images and look for some to hopefully appear in her book coming soon!

St Paul engagement pictures

Y’all 2016 is full of amazing couples just like this one! I am just in love with the modern yet REAL feel of this session. Plus come on now, her amazing ring? Non traditional, but knock my socks off stunning! And of course these outfits had me at #plaidloveforever

A favorite part of my studio in Downtown St. Paul is getting amazing looks inside and outside showcasing the city in Lowertown. It’s a perfect modern look for the off season sessions when the trees are empty here in Minnesota. I just cannot wait for Malinda and Chad’s amazing June wedding at the Summit Manor. It’s going to be beautiful.

Stillwater Wedding in Minnesota

Y’all I love the couples that dare to have a winter Minnesota wedding! This year I actually have more winter season weddings than any other year before! Go 2016 couples!! These two were no different and braved the elements to capture some amazing outdoor photos by the St. Croix river. We had such a mild December I wasn’t sure we would even have snow, but their New Years day wedding was full of white & happy warm cheer!

Again, these two are such a special pair. My favorite part of the day? The couple sharing their letters during the first look. Knowing how important and iconic letters have been in their relationship, I can honestly say I had tears. Tears at their excitement to see each other and read their letters!

Other favorites were the floral. Y’all these are my favorite colors on the planet and how they were so modern yet spiced with a little bit of winter! Way to go Camrose Hill!! Mpls Coffee Cart that served all the coffee goodness you could think of, what an amazing idea to have during your cocktail hour!!! And of course the Bridal Suite at The Loft at Studio J. Literally stunning and that wood wall! I may or may not have been bouncing around like a kid at a candy store photographing that space.

Meet the Letters | Engagement

St Paul Engagement Session

The first time they noticed each other was in a college class near the end of the semester. Chris was headed out west for the summer and after their first time spending some time together, so he proposed an unconventional idea. Before becoming friends via social media and texting he asked Stephanie if she would take the summer to write letters to get to know each other instead of media. They wrote many, many letters back and forth and slowly but surely deepened their love story.

Y’all what an AMAZING legacy these letters are. What an amazing almost unheard of way of courting. These two are remarkable. Their hearts so on fire for the same things and just ready for this next step in life. After hearing their story I knew, KNEW we had to include their books from the class they met and of course these letters into their engagement photos.

It was so incredible to see these memories, Chris’s letters all uniform and sturdy and Stephanie’s fun different colorful cards filled with colorful words. I was all set to blog their wedding that was on New Years Day this year, but I just couldn’t go a step further without sharing their amazing story.

Sweet Miss Lily

A pink and teal nursery lifestyle newborn session

Y’all. This session has been years in the making. This sweet family has been through so much. You see that sweet Molly Bear (incredible company) above is a beautiful remembrance of their first baby Lyla, who’s days on this earth were much too short. I have photographed this sweet family for the last couple of years, celebrating their son (their rainbow baby) growing and their excitement with their maternity session for this sweet girl! This is why the image above of Lily and her Lyla bear are just making my eyes tear. The two sweet girls cuddling up.

I love every image from this session. A normal newborn session with an older sibling is always a little back and forth with the big brother or sister taking a bit of the lead. Making sure we give them a little love, capturing their routine and room and then we give the sibling some space and photograph the new baby by themselves. Then later, I bring back the older sibling for some family images, and sometimes a little bribing with raisins or a favorite treat is necessary to get everyone in a shot! We pull out all the tricks during these sessions to get what we need!

Lily was a champ. CHAMP. CHAMP! And the facial expressions on this sweet little one are to die for. You know that sweet dreaming smiley newborn face? Yep, we captured it a few times. Insert the crowd going wild!
