WELL, HELLO!

I love when you love on each other.

Whether you are newly engaged, a new mother and your day old baby, or a couple exchanging vows.

I love capturing love written all over your faces.

Love for life.
Love for each other.
Love for your passion.

This is where I find the real you. Where the the giggles come out. I’ll meet you there.

You know when you are somewhere that you just don’t want to leave? Like when you were on the playground as a kid and you were like, “PLEASE Mom just ten more minutes? That is how I felt the whole time during this session.

I had the privilege of shooting the G Family while I was in Arizona visiting the Norton Crew. We found a big open space and we just had fun and watched the beautiful sunset. Seriously can they get any cuter? You might have recognized the lil’ adorable girl from this post of her on her phone. SO cute!

Meet our goofy lil’ Christmas Tree.

Now, note. I love clean. White, bright blues that are grounded with a lil’ earthy feel. Our almost pure white upstairs is a good example (yes I know I will probably eat my words when our young ones arrive with Crayolas galore) Yet, I just love the feeling of organization and clarity. Which is completely what my Christmas Tree this year is NOT.

Honestly, I had a hard time actually putting these photos up to post. See there is this curse that some photographers have called…..perfection. ESPECIALLY over your own personal photos. We want the perfect shot, the prettiest of pretty. Sometimes wanting the perfect shot, trumps the memory. Sad, but true. Now…Did I think about perfectly straightening each branch? Perfectly draping or re-pinning the instax? Sure, maybe like 300 times. But while all those things were pondering through my head, I had my camera in hand and decided to let all that stress go. I chose to be grateful that I didn’t have the time, nor energy to do those things and having a perfectly lined up Christmas tree isn’t at the top of my priority list. I realized that our life is full and this tree was representing that.

So everytime I walk up the stairs, I peek at the tree, all the memories in those two years of instax and……..

LOVE the imperfect that we are in right now.

All you need for your own lil’ goofy Instax tree is ::

  • -Twine (which I look for at 5 stores before realizing the only local place by us was Home Depot)
  • -Mini wooden clips (Which I got at Michaels)
  • -Gold Ribbon (or any ribbon of that matter, I used 3 rolls. Probably could have had 4)
  • -Lights (any kind)
  • -Instax (Wide or mini, we used both throughout the tree)

Also, this was an awesome Pinterest idea that I saw and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the results. We already have 4 cabinets covered with cards and more to do! I love being able to see these photos every time I prepare a meal or just walk through. It is definitely one of my favorite things to see my clients cards and what their favorite photos were that they chose!

This was one of the most intimate weddings I have ever shot. It was crazy beautiful on a freezing windy day like today. Coral’s details and bouquet were so unique and totally her and her beau. Their love is SO evident in their excited expressions and sweet embraces.

I love Coral’s smile and even looking through these photos now, seeing her just enamored makes me teary. I would DIE to have an image like her laying in her dress. It brought back the memories of the hour I got “put away” at our wedding close to 5 years ago. Guests were arriving and how I laid down on the floor with my dress around me like a cupcake and only got point and shoot photo of this. Enjoy this crisp & clean beautiful winter wedding!

Why not bake your first cake, then enjoy your first taste of cake ever all in the same day?

Taylor did just that as he is celebrating the big number 1 this week. Oh the days where you could wear no shirteat with your hands AND it would be freaking cute? Those were the days.

On a day like today, all I want to do is curl up by this reception’s fireplace and read a good book.

I’ve had a little break from blogging and I am back! Up until mid November my schedule ran like a freight train moving faster than fast. Thanksgiving and on has been a great blessing to rest, regroup, have time to put my house back together and spend time with missed family and friends. My work/life balance was way more productive than last years fall, so I am grateful to be growing and learning.

This wedding was my last wedding of the fall, but not of the year. I have a beautiful New Years Eve wedding lined up and I am so excited to share that special day with them and toast into the new year. This wedding,  Amy & Mike’s wedding was such a highlight to the year. Walking into Amy’s room as I got there I was greeted by a hug and beautiful excitement at all the awesome details she put together. Amy looked stunning and so did the rest of her day.

I would have to say one of my favorite parts of the day was when it was time to give thanks to the guests at the reception. Amy and Mike played Paper. Rock. Scissors. for who had to give the speech. I laughed so hard as they did best out of three, until I was put to tears as Amy thanked me in front of the guests. Goodness girl, I am so thankful for you. Blushing still and thankful. I will never forget your words.

Now cozy up and picture yourself in front of that beautiful fireplace……and the cupcakes too

One of my favorite, favorite things about traveling is that I love seeing that there are so many other people on this earth. Tons of unique faces in the airport, on the plane, in the destination city and I’m almost inspired more while walking to baggage claim here in Minneapolis. I am just bewildered at all of these people that I don’t know, that are going places. Tons and tons of others visiting family, work trips, vacations, just living their lives. It’s a beautiful perspective, that there is so much more to this world that just my small surroundings.

When I return home and get back in the swing of things I so often find myself losing that perspective. Losing patience, getting frustrated about what I don’t have or where I am not. Overwhelmed or stressed and I seem to act like God can’t handle my problems, when the truth is. These things are so trivial and that HE is so much bigger. A friend recently recommended to put a silent alarm on my phone that said “grateful for?” that goes off once a day and I either write a word or two down or think on it and it really does help bring me back to earth.

Back to the perspective of being grateful, content and serving whole heartily with what I have in the present moment.

In the craze of this holiday season & gift shopping. I encourage you to think about the gifts that you can give your loved ones everyday.

            • - A phone call or visit to a family member or friend.
            • -Your time
            • -A post it note on the mirror
            • -Homemade treats
            • -Serve your friends for dinner
            • -A hand made craft (Like this awesome idea :: A jar of appreciation)
            • -Sitting down and get goofy with photobooth or take pictures with your phone.
            • -A hug

You might just be surprised at how your loved ones react when they see the thought and love that went into it. So this year instead of gauging the value of your gifts by the price tags, let your gifts be inspired by intention.

Natalie. Natalie. Natalie.

This woman and my dearest friend is pure radiant. From her heart for her kids that is never failing, to her goofy dance moves, to her dedication to her family and her love for each person she comes in contact with. Natalie is radiant. Seriously. Any of you know who read her words, or have heard her story. Every word and photo she puts out there changes you. She has changed my heart and challenged me to my core over and over again.

I am so so so utterly grateful to have her in my life. Now get some of her in your life too.

YES! I am so excited about this couples upcoming 2012 wedding. These two light up a room when they walk in, and they always leave me laughing or with a crazy huge smile! From singing karaoke, to getting our hair did or working out. These two are everywhere  in our lives and really making things happen. It’s so inspiring to see others live their passion, like we try so hard to do.

Matt and I are blessed to have both of them in our lives!

PSS. Luke is the best Chiropractor and Sports Performance training guy there is around here in our opinion. He will fix you right up! & Lauren rocks hair here. Check them out!

Lately, I have been working at shooting tighter with my clients. While I love seeing full frame and the environment around my subjects, I have discovered a new found passion of the simplicity of closeness. The way it eliminates distractions and brings you in.

Immediately.

In = Fully Present + Aware. Which honestly I think is a hard place to get to. We live in such a fast paced world where we are going a million miles a minute and most often coasting. Yet think of the times where you are this close to someone. Your husband, your child, your puppy. Time seems to stop.

I want to live here. I want to create here.

Today let’s find the simple acts of love, that will bring your heart here. Simple. Beautiful. Here.
