G Family

You know when you are somewhere that you just don’t want to leave? Like when you were on the playground as a kid and you were like, “PLEASE Mom just ten more minutes? That is how I felt the whole time during this session.

I had the privilege of shooting the G Family while I was in Arizona visiting the Norton Crew. We found a big open space and we just had fun and watched the beautiful sunset. Seriously can they get any cuter? You might have recognized the lil’ adorable girl from this post of her on her phone. SO cute!

Our Instax Tree

Meet our goofy lil’ Christmas Tree.

Now, note. I love clean. White, bright blues that are grounded with a lil’ earthy feel. Our almost pure white upstairs is a good example (yes I know I will probably eat my words when our young ones arrive with Crayolas galore) Yet, I just love the feeling of organization and clarity. Which is completely what my Christmas Tree this year is NOT.

Honestly, I had a hard time actually putting these photos up to post. See there is this curse that some photographers have called…..perfection. ESPECIALLY over your own personal photos. We want the perfect shot, the prettiest of pretty. Sometimes wanting the perfect shot, trumps the memory. Sad, but true. Now…Did I think about perfectly straightening each branch? Perfectly draping or re-pinning the instax? Sure, maybe like 300 times. But while all those things were pondering through my head, I had my camera in hand and decided to let all that stress go. I chose to be grateful that I didn’t have the time, nor energy to do those things and having a perfectly lined up Christmas tree isn’t at the top of my priority list. I realized that our life is full and this tree was representing that.

So everytime I walk up the stairs, I peek at the tree, all the memories in those two years of instax and……..

LOVE the imperfect that we are in right now.

All you need for your own lil’ goofy Instax tree is ::

  • -Twine (which I look for at 5 stores before realizing the only local place by us was Home Depot)
  • -Mini wooden clips (Which I got at Michaels)
  • -Gold Ribbon (or any ribbon of that matter, I used 3 rolls. Probably could have had 4)
  • -Lights (any kind)
  • -Instax (Wide or mini, we used both throughout the tree)

Also, this was an awesome Pinterest idea that I saw and I just LOVE LOVE LOVE the results. We already have 4 cabinets covered with cards and more to do! I love being able to see these photos every time I prepare a meal or just walk through. It is definitely one of my favorite things to see my clients cards and what their favorite photos were that they chose!

Winter White

This was one of the most intimate weddings I have ever shot. It was crazy beautiful on a freezing windy day like today. Coral’s details and bouquet were so unique and totally her and her beau. Their love is SO evident in their excited expressions and sweet embraces.

I love Coral’s smile and even looking through these photos now, seeing her just enamored makes me teary. I would DIE to have an image like her laying in her dress. It brought back the memories of the hour I got “put away” at our wedding close to 5 years ago. Guests were arriving and how I laid down on the floor with my dress around me like a cupcake and only got point and shoot photo of this. Enjoy this crisp & clean beautiful winter wedding!

Why not bake your first cake, then enjoy your first taste of cake ever all in the same day?

Taylor did just that as he is celebrating the big number 1 this week. Oh the days where you could wear no shirteat with your hands AND it would be freaking cute? Those were the days.

Paper. Rock. Scissors.

On a day like today, all I want to do is curl up by this reception’s fireplace and read a good book.

I’ve had a little break from blogging and I am back! Up until mid November my schedule ran like a freight train moving faster than fast. Thanksgiving and on has been a great blessing to rest, regroup, have time to put my house back together and spend time with missed family and friends. My work/life balance was way more productive than last years fall, so I am grateful to be growing and learning.

This wedding was my last wedding of the fall, but not of the year. I have a beautiful New Years Eve wedding lined up and I am so excited to share that special day with them and toast into the new year. This wedding,  Amy & Mike’s wedding was such a highlight to the year. Walking into Amy’s room as I got there I was greeted by a hug and beautiful excitement at all the awesome details she put together. Amy looked stunning and so did the rest of her day.

I would have to say one of my favorite parts of the day was when it was time to give thanks to the guests at the reception. Amy and Mike played Paper. Rock. Scissors. for who had to give the speech. I laughed so hard as they did best out of three, until I was put to tears as Amy thanked me in front of the guests. Goodness girl, I am so thankful for you. Blushing still and thankful. I will never forget your words.

Now cozy up and picture yourself in front of that beautiful fireplace……and the cupcakes too 🙂
