MODERN COUNTRY BARN AND BOOTS WEDDING

Can we just take a moment to appreciate the most incredible details of this wedding.  This modern country barn and boots wedding was something to remember. This day gave me all the feels and held a special place in my heart because it belonged to my cousin.

There were so many well thought out pieces, like the girls floral robes and cowboy boots, the red and white barn to the custom champagne.  Everyone had a hand in making this day magical.  The bride’s brother wrote the processional music and the groom made the stunning trellis for the outdoor ceremony as well as many of the wooden yard games.  All these details added a homey touch to the modern country feel of this day. Can I just say that this was one of the most fun locations I have ever been too! There were so many different backdrops from the green spaces to the stunning modern barn with it’s wooden arched cathedral ceilings and crystal chandeliers creating the happy go lucky mood. Plus the random cows everywhere, HA! I could not be happier to share in my cousins special day.  Congratulations Luther and Kelly!

PS. Our little Cal made a couple of Cameo’s below! Of course one was next to a pig!

When Life Doesn’t Make Sense

Can I start with this?!? I am writing this post to remind myself and hopefully each of you, this exact thing. Read below.

Life is MORE THAN the data that you see. -Wes Feltner

Can we just talk about the hard things? When life doesn’t add up? When we feel like what’s the point? Not that there aren’t beautifully good things going amongst the hard. Not to be depressed or down, but to talk about when things are hard & unfortunate for NO apparent reason. That is why the quote above has hit me right between the eyes.

Our pastor Wes Feltner just started a sermon series on Ecclesiastes and man it is balm for my soul. It’s talking about all those questions.  It’s a different and beautiful conversation to be having in church. No I’m not trying to sell you a series or even church (even though it would be so worth your time), I just want to encourage you that LIFE IS MORE THAN just the current data that you see.

While heavy maybe for some, my heart has always been rooted in the real. I truly don’t have a lot of time for the fluffy, fake “all is well all the time” song in my life.  I want to share my real, to encourage you to do the same. The relationships that I have in my life I strive to be fully open, sharing our hearts, because honestly life on earth A LOT of times doesn’t make any sense. And pretending that it does often isolates others and doesn’t help them share that they might be struggling with as well.  This is why I have been so open in sharing about our infertility , very challenging first 15 months with our son &  our miscarriage this summer.

While I don’t have all the answers or a pretty bow to the question of why these things happen, I can share with you that grief and loss has been popping up in our lives this season. From the loss of our 12 week along pregnancy, to employees leaving due to unexpected injury, to managing stress during my busiest time of year. The grief has come in waves and then tapers. I continuously feel that logically I am really good, we knew the risks that 1 and 4 mothers miscarry, going through infertility we were never naive about having children. Our hearts always cautious but also trusting in God’s plan.  We do feel so secure in love by the father, yet the most challenging part is the emotional that can pop up when I see my friends (yes plural there are multiple) that are due within days of when we were. Seeing them often brings back so many old infertility feelings which I wish weren’t a part of this journey. This is where if I just look at the data I see, I can feel completely helpless, deflated and like…..what is the point.

This is where I have to CHOOSE.

I have to say hello and welcome (not stuff away) those feelings of sadness, hurt, want and waiting.

And then promptly lay them at my Father in heavens feet and say, I trust you. I trust your plan. I trust your story. I believe that you love me despite this. I STILL CHOOSE TO BELIEVE THAT YOU ARE FAITHFUL. Even when my flesh wants to spew lies “like he isn’t trustworthy, look at the current data…he has forgotten you Gina, it would be shameful to hope in the father as he allowed this kind of hurt.”

I CHOOSE THIS QUOTE. Which I literally hit replay 100 times on the video recording of the sermon because it’s the perfect definition of what we trying with all our might to do everyday.

You have got to learn to LIVE by faithful obedience (fear God and keep His commandments) NOT because life makes sense, but precisely BECAUSE IT DOESN’T. – Wes Feltner

Wes went onto say that…..If life made sense why would you need faith? Isn’t that the truth? We all would love a easy non changing life, right. Yet, growth & becoming more like Christ isn’t often found in the unchanging & It’s only through the eyes of faithful obedience during hardship that you will find TRUE meaning.

So here our family is choosing Christ, choosing to trust when it makes NO sense at all. Even when it hurts, Even when it feels impossible. When we see other friends walk through hurt worse than ours. We choose to believe HE is still a GOOD GOOD FATHER and this is just a part of our beautiful story that points back to Him.

So if you are in a similar place of feeling like it all doesn’t make sense, I hope this encourages you that you aren’t alone. That there is HOPE in the one who conquered the treadmill of life & loss FOR YOU. Let’s trust Him with all we got. Even in the worst of it.

He will find you in the littlest of graces. Like this one that pops up on my computer screen every day for the last 2 years, it literally blows my mind most days.

Believe Gina! He is for you. He is Faithful. from Gina Zeidler on Vimeo.

Also, crazy that this is an Ecclesiastes verse on this swaddle blanket, the one thing I bought early on for the baby that we lost. We took this photo at about 7 weeks along.

img_4058

Man Lord, I am ready for what you have for me in this book of the bible and this new sermon series. Thank you Lord for meeting me in the smallest of places. We will continually cling to the hope that you have conquered it all so we are holding on and trusting in faithful obedience, when life doesn’t make sense. And enjoy this ride! There is so much good amongst the trials and the pain!

5 Must Have Apps That every photographer needs on their phone

gina

Hey y’all! You know I love nothing more than to share the things that make my life and photography business thrive! I have rounded up my 5 absolute best apps for photographers to use! I have included ones that I just can’t live without and ones that are lifesavers in my day-to-day business operations and even some personal favorites.  Check them out!

icon175x175_talking-carl

TALKING CARL

Have you ever had one of those shoots where the kids are just at the end of their rope, melting down and you have exhausted all your tricks, treats and bribes? This is when Talking Carl comes out of my pocket! It’s an iPhone app with a talking funny, goofy littler character named Carl that repeats everything you say and usually gets kids attention immediately! The $1 spent on this app has always been a win for me, I will share more about this app and exactly how I use it in my upcoming course!

sun-surveyor-app

SUN SURVEYOR

Sun surveyor is a bit more of a spendy app, but for me it’s worth it because I can track the sun and where it is going to be and when. If you are a photographer like me I am someone that is always chasing light and needs the light to be at a certain place, so this app shows me a direct GPS coordinate and an arc of exactly where the sun is going to be all day long! How cool is that y’all? This is a great option if you can’t get out to scout a location or if it’s a place I have never been to.  Before driving all the way there I can quickly see if there are any treelines or lots of tree coverage that would hinder the light. This is a timesaver!

icon175x175_sunrise_sunset

SUNRISE SUNSET

As a free option this is a simple and easy to use app that displays all the important sun times. This is so great to have during wedding meetings so that you know in March 2017 when the sunrise and sunsets will take place. I love using this app because I try and shoot during that golden hour if I can, and this helps me place what times things need to be, based on the time the sun will be setting and in what area code.

mileiq-vert-bl

MILE IQ

I don’t know about you, but at the end of the year when you have to go back and calculate mileage I want to bang my head on my computer! This app tracks everywhere you go right on your phone. You can swipe for business or swipe for personal. There is an initial investment but for me it saves hours and hours of work come tax time.  It tracks the mileage for me and gives me monthly reports. It is AMAZING! I am so excited for the end of this year when I don’t have to calculate mileage the old fashioned way again.

icon175x175_pass-app  PASS

I use this app to deliver my galleries to clients and have joined as a lifetime member. I love the accessibility of this app! At the end of a session I can walk through with my clients what it is going to look like when the photos are delivered to them and what it will most likely look like on the computer as well. I like this primarily as a marketing app and added bonus so they can share photos with their friends and family quickly and it doesn’t take up storage space on your phone!

icon175x175_podcastsPODCASTS

I use this app all of the time, on my drive to sessions or on my drive home. This has been a really good use of time for me. I personally love listening to creative business podcasts, sermons and different things that just fill my soul up on the way to work. Here are links to some of my favorite podcasts. Enjoy!

Berean Baptist (our church sermons! Awesome)

Risen Motherhood

Creative Empire Podcast

Revelation Wellness (amazing to run and walk to)

PERSONAL FAVORITES

fullsizerender-4

We are all so busy we need a few personal photo type apps ourselves to be able to capture our family moments in the making!

icon175x175_1-second    1 Second Everyday : Video Diary by Cesar Kuriyama

This allows you to take a quick video clip everyday and then at anytime you can put together a compilation of all the clips! It’s amazing and I’m hoping to make it most of the year!!! So fun to watch! And atthe end of the year you have a beautiful video documenting the past moments you’ve captured.

icon175x175_groovebookGroove book

Every month I get a reminder to take 100 photos off my phone and print them in REAL LIFE! Then it get’s shipped to my house! I am a HUGE fan of Shark Tank and this was on the show years ago (now bought out by shutterfly) but I love them! This quality isn’t as high as my next favorite, but then I don’t feel as bad, tearing them out and using them for art projects or more!

This app ALSO lets you to create identical copies of photos and send them to parents or grandparents. This is a great way to get all your photos off your phone as well in case of that unexpected phone drop or water damage.

chatbookChatbooks

Well first they are STUNNINGLY beautiful! For me they are more like a collection for our home & book shelves. I have my instagram feed automatically update and I get a book when 60 images are up! This app allows me to back up my Instagram feed (AND WORDS which is SO important for me) and you can also print from a specific a hashtag feed as well! I need to check out the hardcover books, I have heard amazing things! I have so enjoyed looking back at even 6-7 months ago and reading where my heart was at then.

dropbox-logo DropBox

Of course DropBox is always another great option to store and back up your photos! As well as I have heard. Google Apps does this for free, but I love having all my photos from 2009 even safely stored on my dropbox SO THAT I CAN MAKE MORE ROOM FOR MORE IMAGES!!

Did you enjoy these apps?  Sign-up for my newsletter to continue getting great tips to enhance your photography business!

ORGANIC CALHOUN BEACH CLUB SEPTEMBER WEDDING

Rita and Grant’s September wedding day at Calhoun Beach Club was remarkable! My most favorite thing about Rita is her heart. She has an amazing caring spirit for others and the quality of relationships. Her gracious heart was so apparent on this day! I want to make a GIF of their first look, as seeing the tears full of LOVE and EXCITEMENT for the day ahead that filled their eyes! I can almost feel the joy in that embrace!!

Grant is truly her perfect pair! This grace-filled man is truly all american! Watching him embrace his girl and just love her through every big moment of the day, made my heart SO FULL!  And we can’t forget Jack, who was the star of their engagement session made an appearance, yet he didn’t touch the beauty of sweet Rita.

Rita and Grant worked with the amazing Sarah at Lasting Impressions to make the room at CBC so STUNNING! Sadies Floral showed up again with an amazing focal point and my favorite touches of the day were the fresh baguettes at our seats and also the late night snack of cheese curds from their family (cousins I believe) Red Head Creamery, look for the post of the adorable red head behind this amazing cheese at the receptions photos!
