Heart + Happy Hewing Winter Wedding

This wedding! From the first email I knew was going to be MAGIC! I photographed Alex’s brothers wedding 7 years ago and it still goes down in history as one of my favorites ever!! From our first meeting to each step in between there was so much heart, happy and laughter. We are already practically family! Which makes this girls serving/connection heart SO happy!

The moment that I walked into the hotel room the happy-electric vibe was on point! Make-up final touches and setting out all the details we had a blast. Then slap a 40+ degree day in early January made us all so giddy at the day ahead!

As usual one of my favorite parts of the day was hanging out on the rooftop of the Hewing Hotel + alleyway at the end of the night! Yet, the tears hit as these two had the sweetest ceremony ended with the perfect tear-filled kiss or should I say kisses! Those exit photos slay me! Also, y’all Claire was just delighted all day! Her mom worked SO hard on all the details of the day, you’ll see when Claire walked into the ballroom she was truly taken away into tears at how it all turned out. Such a sweet moment!

This pair was up for anything silly + fun in their images! Right after we shot some Newlywed photos outside we came inside for a shoe change and got a little goofy jumping on the bed! These two and their families are just amazing humans and I am so grateful to call many of them friends!!

Claire + Alex. There are no words for you two. A Rainbows + Kittens burst just sums up a teeny bit of my love for you both! I can’t wait to capture many more years together!

Stunning Snuggly Northwoods + Clyde Iron Works Wedding

Y’all, this was the perfect wedding to wrap up my 2018 wedding season!!! These two and their zest for life + dancing and family! And friends, Laura’s smile is one of the most unique I have ever photographed. Her smile LITERALLY lights up a room, like a lightening bolt of joy. If you know her you get what I mean right?!?! Then you have Mike with the biggest heart and the best humor! It was super fun that there were so many familiar faces at this wedding as I have photographed this bride’s siblings before! It’s so much fun to hug everyone again on a celebration day!

I was just swooning with the beautiful greenery hung in the ceremony area! Also all the first looks! One with her girls, dad and of course her! Then we headed out to one of their favorite places in Duluth and took some EPIC photos in the woods + river! It was incredibly near where they got engaged. SO fun to add in those little moments!

One of the coolest parts of Clyde Iron Works was the industrial feel + layout! These two know how to throw a dance party! I had so much fun during this part of the night capturing all the dancing + silliness!

Laura + Mike here is too trillions of years celebrating up north with your amazing hearts + smiles! SO MUCH LOVE!

Incredible Barn on Stoney Hill Wedding

Oh friends! I am so excited to share this beautiful wedding WI wedding day! Shelby + David celebrated their amazing day at the Barn on Stoney Hill!  Shelby and I had playing basketball in college as a common thread and it was so fun to watch her + David celebrate with their sweet friends + teammates throughout the day. Also, these two just had the most wonderful families!!! Hearts of GOLD they all had!

That isn’t even talking details, these beautiful custom illustrated invites, to Shelby’s two piece wedding dress (SERIOUSLY MY FAVORITE THING EVER!!!) Both looked PERFECT on Shelby! From hair to floral, it was just a beautiful dream of a day!

Favorite parts of the day were the happy petal toss! Watching Shelby get loved on by her sister + how much she loved the little ones during the day, holding them during dancing and making a note to make them feel so loved! And of course how the dance floor went nuts when it opened!!!

Shelby + David, I wish you two nothing but a million more competitive game nights + sweet fun with your amazing families! You are two are just the BEST!

Stunning Minneapolis Depot Wedding

Amanda and Luke wanted a personal, intimate wedding that celebrated their storied history and bright future, and their stunning Minneapolis Depot wedding delivered! From the way their families contributed to the day from the custom ceremony feature wall by Amanda’s father to the jewelry by the groom’s mother to the childhood friend who married them—each detail was thoughtful and significant to their journey together. Luke even played the theme song from the “Up” movie for their first look. Swoon.

Nestled in the Depot’s Winter Garden, the wood wall with stunning florals was just the most beautiful intimate spot for the ceremony. Fun fact – this couple was coincidentally married eight years, eight months and eight days after their first date! There were laughs and crys and just the most personalized ceremony I’ve seen in a while.

We also had to snag a couple of photos near the Guthrie as Luke was in a Christmas Carol there and they got engaged on the stage in between shows that day. It was fully orchestrated with lights, our favorite song, and a champagne toast.

Amanda and Luke, you waited a long time for your perfect day, and my wish is that you celebrate every moment as you joyfully dance together as husband and wife.

Classic + Elegant Van Dusen Mansion Wedding

Oh was it so great to be back photographing at the Van Dusen Mansion! This time with the amazing Carlee and Brian!  I knew based on their engagement session attire was any indication, the wedding was going to be stunning. (Exhibit A: Engagement Session)

Carlee had the most AMAZING dress and surprised her husband after the ceremony with an extra skirt that just added SO much to this beautiful dress! This bride was full of surprises for her groom as she had this amazing set of cards + gifts of their story and the most adorable gifts that correlated! Brian was blown away from every step of the day!

We had the MOST perfect weather for their wedding day. Made a stop across the river for amazing photos of their bridal party! Then back to the amazing Van Dusen for their ceremony with the beautiful trio playing and their sweet friends officiating + reading. It was so beautifully personal!

The coolest part of this venue is the courtyard (where the ceremony was) is such a fun space to host your guests during the reception. These two had a cigar bar, an amazing choice of desserts + cake, their bar + coffee and lastly sparklers for us to do an exit!

It was truly a remarkable day! Carlee + Brian I wish nothing but a million more stories of love + life in your future! Love you dearly!!

Sunny St. Paul Wedding

Jolene and Justin had a beautiful day in St. Paul and it was so great to have the sunshine follow us from the getting ready spots, to the amazing small alleys to the ceremony at 413 on Wacouta.

I’ve never experienced a ceremony where all of the guests were so involved. They clapped for the groom’s entrance and there were some really great hallelujahs and amens throughout! Jolene mentioned about loving Justin through a “man cold” and the room erupted.

Jolene’s bouquet was so beautiful and ridiculously amazing! SO big with a lot of variation in flowers, I was blown away! I’ve seen a lot of bouquets but this one was so large the florist gave her a spot for her thumb to make it easier to carry. Check. It. Out!

Above all, this these two truly really loved each other through the day and everyone came together on the dance floor to end the day on a super-fun celebratory note!

Jolene + Justin, may you have many more celebratory, hallelujah-worthy days filled with each other dancing and of course the ones you love!

Wine + Navy Lumber Exchange Wedding

Gretchen + Matt had such an amazing first day of September! I just loved the look and feel of their Lumber Exchange Wedding. The Fountain Room was where many of their events were held, but there were so many great options at this locations for different looks. From the marble staircase for the first look to the top of the parking ramp and of course colorful Bob Dylan wall just around the corner, it was a joy to create beautiful images for these two!

Their looks were each unique and fun, reflecting their personality and style. Gretchen’s dress had AMAZING detail on the back and sleeves and her hair was a cute, sassy pony. Matthew had a dapper vest under his jacket. The girls’ dresses were the bomb.com with sequins on top and chiffon on the bottom. I haven’t ever seen these dresses before and it was so flattering on each of the bridesmaids!

These two were up for anything, and have the BEST and BIGGEST hearts! Above all what stood out all day long was how were silly and wonderful Gretchen and Matt were with each other, but also very sweet. They wrote their own vows and when I opened their vow book to take a couple of ring shots. I almost fainted is swooning from Matt’s vows. I have a picture below you can’t miss, I couldn’t stop crying laughing reading them. Truly the best ever! They also exchanged gifts and without planning it, each gave the other an engraved Fossil watch. Say what!?! Twinning!

Gretchen and Matt, it was so clear that you two are the perfect pair!!!  I pray you have  adventures together in the years to come. SO MUCH LOVE!

Her Dad’s sweet face! That emotion just gets me everytime! See what I mean friends? The most hilarious + sweetest thing ever! Gold Star Matt! We were having NO fun at all. HA! Just kidding! I love the emotion in Newlywed shots! They had pictures of their pup at each table and I can’t stop laughing over Gretch here!

Stunning Machine Shop Wedding

Goodness. There aren’t many words for how amazing this day was. I would be lying if I wasn’t waiting to shoot at this amazing venue The Machine Shop. Then meet this couple and who cares if they got married in a public bathroom, I would be honored to be there. Evan + Brooke just radiate love + happy. These two were so excited to see each other in the most loving way. I wasn’t surprised when their tears started to fall during the first look, after the excited emotions.

From this incredible paper suite by Champagne Press or the stunning florals by Kindred Blooms + planning by See Jane Plan. My eyes were popping out of my sockets most of the day! The Mrs Box was so stunning too! The entrance wall was too GOOD!

I loved the unique pieces of the day! How Evan + Brooke signed their own written vows as the “unity ceremony” and it will hang in their house. What an amazing idea! My favorite would have to be Evan surprising his bride in the middle of their first dance with a serenade! Those emotions had me in tears.

Brooke + Evan. You know the love for you both is off the charts! It was a pure honor to be there and capture it all. Blessings for your marriage every moment going forward!!

Bright and Blue at the Surf Ballroom

Kathryn and Kevin’s day came together so perfectly, their family and friends were able to just come and join in and celebrate the couple all day long. What really struck me was how every detail of the day was so thought out and well-planned, not just the bridal details, but how the couple really thought about everyone else. They had intricate for details for all of their guests!

The love came right back. The couple was so well represented by so many loved ones from so many states and Kathrlyn and Kevin really wanted to be present and there for each moment.

The historic Surf Ballroom did not disappoint and The Johnny Holm Band played such a great variety of music that had everyone up and hopping. This couple wanted coverage till the end of the night and it was so sweet to close the night down with everyone! What an amazing day and night!

Kathryn + Kevin, nothing but the best this day and blessings for every day after! Sending so much LOVE!

Charming Wisconsin Vineyard Wedding

Emily + Kyle are love of God, nature, family and of course one another! Fun fact: they got engaged in Yosemite National Park! Their ceremony and reception were at a vineyard + barn combo in Edgerton, Wisconsin that really celebrated the nature they love so much. The venue was so versatile and I loved the barn and the vineyard looks the couple rocked for me!

The day was spectacular–It was one of the first amazing weather + sunsets of the season–but the day was also extra special to me as they’re friends with my 2018 couple Dani and Nick! Dani was an attendant and Nick sang for the couple. (Check their Wisconsin wedding here!) Also, I loved that Emily and Kyle prioritized photos as a couple and we were able to get SO many different looks all day as we popped out here and there throughout their evening

Their “ring security men” rocked their roles! And goodness Emily’s sister and MOH surprised her with a WHOLE entire song/rap! I hope it goes on You Tube so I can link it here! Kyle was even in on it! TOOOOO GOOOD!

Emily + Kyle, you said you wanted your wedding to be a place that radiates God’s love and brings people together and the day truly was that. I wish you many more years in that bright warm feeling that permeated your first day as husband and wife.

Stunning + Sunsets Wedding on Manhattan Beach

April + Dan while planning wanted nothing more than a FUN,  carefree, casual day surrounded by family and friends! They rented out the AMAZING Manhattan Beach Lodge and many of their guest came up for the long weekend! It was a full week event to many friends and family of boating, playing yard games, BBQing and hanging by the Bonfire.

It was so fun to see all the different spaces that these two set up for their amazing guests! The Lakeside wedding on the lawn overlooking Trout Lake, the amazing cocktail hour on the patio with steel drums had the PERFECT VIBE! Then ending the night watching the sunset roll in perfectly and do their dances with that beautiful light!

One of my favorites pieces of their day is the just LOVE and sweetness that April and Dan carried to each of their guests and family. They were so loving + just enjoying every moment! These two LOVE each other so well! One of my last favorites was when Dan kept leaning in during the ceremony for kisses from his girl, before the official kiss! It had April and all of us laughing up a storm and swooning our hearts!

April + Dan I hope you enjoy amazing weekends on the lake for the REST of your lives! So many blessings and always #LOVEONLAKETIME

Pink + Perfect Mpls Wedding

Claire + Matt wed on amazing day in July! From their first look at the spot where they got engaged to the beautiful words that they shared in vows this day was magical + perfect! They truly made Solar Arts look so wonderful and unique with each detail. Claire + Matt just shined full of joy all day! It was so wonderful, even their adorable squeeze signing their marriage license!

One of my favorites was during their ceremony the song played was “Reckless Love” which is my current favorite ever + and I loved that this couple rocked the Brides + Grooms cake tradition. Chocolate cake + Vanilla! And it was gone so quick! YUM!

Sending so many blessings + love to Claire + Matt as they continue making amazing memories ahead!

Dramatic Lutsen Mountain Wedding

From my first exchange with Alexa, I just knew we would have such a great day at their summer Lutsen Mountain Wedding. (Their cozy engagement session was pretty great, too.) The ceremony was held on the patio of the chalet overlooking Lake Superior. Guests had to gondola ride up to the venue! Amazing.

Both Alexa and Peter are self-identified Lego fanatics. Peter had the best Lego cuff links. He also loves the  Jurassic Park theme song and it was actually the entrance song-played so tastefully on violin! To see fog billowing in over the lake, it just felt like a Jurassic Park moment.

Shared passions aside, the couple said they chose a North Shore wedding because the beautiful place also is special to the couple and their families. The theme of nature + family  carried through all day. Peter carried his niece/flower girl down the aisle, the musicians were all family and friends and Alexa’s uncle was the ceremony officiant.

Some of my favorite images are from the special time we pre-planned to set aside just for bride and groom portraits. The couple got engaged on Artist’s Point and it was so amazing to take that 20 minute drive to capture what ended up being just epic photos from the day at a location that was so special to them. A friend even packed a little snack for them to eat in transit.

Once we got back, the fog rolled in and helped cool down the venue. Guests loved the doughnut wall the father of the bride built and stocked with goodies from the famous Worlds’ Best Donuts in Grand Marais. (The bridesmaids knew this was coming and wore shirts saying, ” After this, we’re getting doughnuts,” and it was just so perfectly fun and special!)

Alexa and Peter, I know your sense of adventure will keep you to happy together for many many years. All my love!!!

Music + Heart-Filled St. Olaf Pair Wedding

I know I say this all the time about my couples, but Alanna + Stephen really are just the cutest humans on the planet. The emotions throughout this day between Bride + Groom and family just have my FULL HEART!

They met at St. Olaf in the orchestra and that shared love of music carried through to their proposal story. Stephen secretly rehearsed with his student orchestra a version of the Bruno Mars song, “Marry You” and he really nailed it! It was pretty ridiculous and amazing and you can watch it here.

Their wedding day was filled with family and friends from all over the world. Her family is from Texas and his from the Britain. Some of the family even wore traditional fascinators!

The part that stood out the most for the day was their hearts for each other, their family and friends. A few examples: They wrote their own vows, which were fantastic. They had a “flower baby” because the Stephen’s niece is only six months old. It was such a sweet way to include his family and she was adorable! All the friends sang the Oles school song for me, twice even! They danced to one of Alanna’s favorite songs that Stephen had wrote + performed with a friend, #swoon.

And one of the most beautiful examples was during the dances. Stephen’s mom passed away from ALS and so instead of a mother-son dance, he had four of his “earth moms” dance with him to her favorite song. You just couldn’t help but cry and cry and cry at the beauty!

Alanna + Stephen, I have no doubt you’ll have many years blessed together not just with one another, but with your amazing family and friends. Continue to laugh big, keep the Lord in your center + never stop surprising each other.  Love you MUCH!
